Do you need to transport a vehicle from one state to another? If you’re making a lot of cross-country moves or getting admission on a scholarship, it can be more cost effective to ship your stuff and fly instead of driving everything yourself. And if that’s the case, you’ll need to work out how to ship your car, including logistics and how to budget for it in your moving budget.

The first thing you need to do is choose an auto transport company. Let’s say you are to ship a vehicle from Dubai. Your first task is to look for relocation companies in Dubai and work with the one you can trust with shipping your vehicle. It may seem like the process ends there but lots of additional steps are involved.

To help you out, here’s everything you need to know about transporting an automobile. You will also learn about helpful ideas to make the process go as smoothly as possible.

Choosing the Shipping Company

Since we have stressed upon choosing the right company to send your car, let’s start with that. Look for movers you can trust leaving your car with. Overcharging, delays, and damages: these are some things you wouldn’t want to deal with.

Paying a professional to handle your vehicle’s transportation takes of everything. A specialist in vehicle transport will have the expertise and training to complete the job. It’s safe to work with a mover if you can check off these items:

  1. The company must be licensed or insured
  2. Check their rating at authority sites such as the BBB
  3. Positive online reviews on the web

The Cost of Shipping Your Car

The next thing to worry about is the cost of transporting your car to another state. The price varies depending on several factors. Some of these factors include:

  • Distance: The distance between your residence and the location where you want to ship the vehicle matters. The cost of shipping varies whether you’re moving from city to city, state to state, or coast to coast.
  • Location: It’s not the same as the distance. This factor is highly dependent on your physical location and setting. The price of relocating to a large metropolis vs a small village may differ.
  • Type of vehicle: The size, make, and model of the vehicle are also factored in when it comes to vehicle relocation. Larger cars weigh more, which could mean a higher cost of transportation.

On their websites, many businesses have a quote calculator. This information can be used to estimate the cost of auto transport services from one state to another. You can adequately prepare a moving budget if you have an estimate of how much it will cost to ship your vehicle ahead of time. However, these calculators are not always accurate so don’t solely rely on them.

Finalizing the Type of Transportation

When it comes to car shipping, you have two options:

  • Enclosed Transport

If you want your CAR to be entirely protected during transportation, an enclosed carrier will do the trick. It’s expensive though and it’s best suited for shipping luxury vehicles or brand-new cars.

  • Open-Air Transport

You’ve probably noticed a lot of open-air carriers on the road. This medium usually stores nine to ten automobiles at a time on two levels, with each car securely fastened to the foundation so it doesn’t move about.

Choose between these modes of transportation based on your budget and preferences.

Getting the Paperwork Ready

Next up on your list should be to prepare the paperwork. A trustworthy transport company will demand documents. What documents do they normally request, you ask? Here is the list:

  • Vehicle Title & Registration

This is to prove that you are the rightful owner of the car that needs shipping

  • Photo ID

This could be your driver’s license or passport

  • Car Insurance

Most car shipping companies offer insured services but you might still have to show proof of insurance.

Getting Your Car Ready for the Relocation

Once all of the above is finalized it’s time to prepare your car before it hits the road. Most transport companies have a list of specifics that you normally have to go over before the pick-up. But you have got to do your own preparation too. Here is what you can begin with:

  • Check the fuel. there should be more than one quarter in your tank
  • Remove all the personal belongings and accessories from your car.
  • Make sure the car’s tires are well inflated and in top shape
  • Your car’s battery must be fully charged
  • Wash the exterior of your vehicle
  • Keep a record of dents, chips, or scratches
  • Take pictures from the inside and outside to maintain a record of your vehicle’s condition

If there are any problems with your car, report them to the shipper. In case your car leaks, report this too so that they place your vehicle in the lowest section. Convey all special needs to the shipper to ensure safe and smooth relocation.

That’s it, your car is now ready to be transported to another state.

What to Expect When Your Car Is Shipped

Once your car reaches its destination, you will need to perform another inspection with the shipper. This is to ensure that the car arrives in the same condition as it left the factory. if you spot any damage, let the company know. You might have to sign a bill of lading.

Sending your precious vehicle overseas is daunting. However, knowing what to expect and preparing for the move can make the process smooth and successful.
