If you take a look at the chainsaw when it was invented, it’s so different from the modern one.

It was due to the difficulty of removing a section of the pelvis if the baby could not pass the birth canal. Why Were Chainsaws Invented for Childbirth?
Now, I think you are surprised. It was a big shock to me when I also found out. it is really true; the chainsaws were invented for childbirth. Yeah, at the time the Chainsaw was invented, people thought it was a safe way to protect their child and wife during the childbirth process.
Before this modern period, women deliver their babies through the birth canal. This was good but there were drawbacks. At times the baby can be so large that it will be difficult for the baby to pass through. So, in this situation, what do you think happens?
When the baby can’t pass through, a section of the pelvis needs to be removed. The process is referred to as symphysiotomy. Shocking, it is being done using a small knife. This process is slow and painful as well. Anesthesia wasn’t used, so you can imagine how painful it is. So, two doctors had to invent the chainsaw to make it easier and faster. It was controlled by a crank.
However, chainsaws aren’t used for this purpose. Due to modernization, the medical use of the chainsaw has been forgotten. What we know presently is the caesarian section. Though, some third-world countries still utilize this method. So, who would imagine that the chainsaws were invented to assist in childbirth?

Symphysiotomy Chainsaw Invention
The Symphysiotomy chainsaw was the first chainsaw invented and soon afterward became a woodcutting chainsaw. The Symphysiotomy chainsaw is powered by a hand crank. Unlike the modern type which is being powered by gas and other fuel. Due to the medical use of the first chainsaw, it was made to look like a knife with chain teeth attached to it. The chain was wounded around in form of an oval.
The first chainsaw wasn’t as noisy or scary as the modern one. As a matter of fact, it was a lot smaller and couldn’t be used to cut trees. in next to no time, the chainsaw was used to carry out further operations on the bone. Amputations were done using the Symphysiotomy chainsaw too.
Within a matter of time, things evolved and everything changes. We began to see the pelvis cutting chainsaw turn into a mighty wood cutting chainsaw. As people saw its usefulness and how fast it is, its use in cutting wood became permanent.
